Féile Luimnigh was founded in 1945. Its aims were, as stated in an early constitution,“ to foster the knowledge of the Arts with first attention to National Culture and to encourage creative effort and to foster the general social and economic interests of the people of Limerick.” We continue to honour those aims and build upon them to enhance the artistic and cultural life of Limerick in the 21st century.
Féile Luimnigh runs from January to March each year with a very full programme of events catering for all age groups in the arts of Speech, Drama, Singing, Instrumental Music and Labhairt na Gaeilge.
Children and young adults showcase their talents and receive feedback on their efforts from a professional and appropriately qualified adjudicator. Awards and bursaries are presented to students of outstanding merit.
Since 1945 many of the students and young people who have performed at Féile Luimnigh have gone on to have successful careers in the performing arts.
Further details of our programme are available to view under the various section tabs on this website.
